“Meet me where the sun kisses the sea”

This was a new trip I introduced in 2024, and it’s now my absolute favourite.

It’s the most challenging of the adventures, maybe for the guests as it’s quite a long hike, especially on warm days like we had, but it’s the most rewarding for sure.

Stepping outside our comfort zone, going that little bit further, this is necessary to keeping us healthy and happy. Fire energy transforms, and this day is like the turning point in the week. I can feel the difference in the guests afterwards. People are tired but there’s been a shift.

I wanted to combine a day’s hiking with taking in my two favourite swim spots in Konavle – one is a well-kept secret I have promised not to share, the other used to be a hidden gem, although it’s now not-so-secret, as it’s won so many awards and is often regarded as the most beautiful beach in Croatia.

The saying goes that “you have to climb the mountain to get the view”, and this is the type of reward I love to offer my weary walkers.

It’s not a gruelling hike, but it’s no cakewalk – a long day, along the coast path and also into the little fairy forests, where we take in the views, the flora and the fauna and a few unexpected animal friends. On a hot day, we have to be diligent about taking on water, taking breaks and having plenty of food to hand. It’s far off the tourist trail and we barely pass another soul on the route.

A recent addition has been a bar be cue at one of the swim stops – a traditional Croatian grill with homemade Ajvar washed down with juice or a Radler. It was probably the most popular meal of the holiday, and I was so blessed to have made the connection of the owner who was able to offer this special treat for us.

The day is logistically challenging for me, lots of twists and turns and getting the timing right, but these are the days that I live for. When I see the looks of wonder on the faces of the guests, when I see them like mermaids on the rocks, and starfish in the sea, my heart is full.

These are my favourite places and favourite moments, and to be able to share them with nature lovers and adventurers like me, is a true joy.
