If it felt like August just flew past, then you’re not alone.

Summer can be like one big fun-filled adventure, but as we move into September, you may even feel you are craving the chance to slow down and get back into some kind of rhythm and routine.

And that’s what September is all about.

It’s like the sunset at the end of the day. There is plenty of warm magic, like the light on the water, and the glittering Golden Path, but it’s gradually going down, preparing us for restorative sleep.

As I will spending the last week of September running a retreat in Cavtat, the place of the most glorious sunsets, I am thinking of some of the places there that have inspired my wild yoga practice.

The places we “starfish” in the sea are little coves, lined with pine trees, and we can still bathe in the warm water of the Adriatic at sunset. There is plenty of light on water all through the year, but it is amongst the wooded areas, I feel the essence of late Summer.

There’s a word for it in Japanese. It’s “komoredi”, and it means the interplay of sunlight filtering in through the leaves of the trees. It describes the beauty of nature’s play on light and shadow.

Of course, by the water is even more magical, a moment we try to capture in Cavtat as we walk along the promenades at sunset.

This month’s movement will draw on this play between the yin and the yang. Plenty of slow, grounding strength training, but interspersed with some natural flowing movements inspired by qi gong, and somatic movement.

You can join online this morning live, for the scheduled classes, or just set a time that suits you and use the playlist to make it work for you and your schedule.
