Letting Go in November

On the eve of Halloween, I was thinking about how I was going to describe what we are doing this month, and why. Then, in a particularly spooky moment, I saw this beautiful poem by Donna Ashworth, and I had a jolt of confirmation.

This is it.

THE SEASON OF LETTING GO

And so begins the season of letting go,
when Mother Nature shows us all,
how it’s done.

Let go,
free yourself,
shake it off,
drop it,
give way for the new.

Create space for new thoughts, new ideas,
new adventures and new connections,
by shedding the dead weight you’ve been carrying around,
for so long.

And whilst you are there, being reborn and renewed,
let go of old anxieties too.

Let go of any doubts, fears or beliefs which no longer serve you well.

Release bitterness or past hurts which feast on your beauty.

Be brave,
Don’t fear the nakedness as your leaves slip away.

Mother Nature doesn’t,
watch and learn.

– Donna Ashworth

She always describes in her poetic words just what I am feeling from the energies in the moment, and I think to myself “yes, this is what I am aiming to embody through our practice this month”.

For it’s not just mentallt and emotionally letting go that counts, we need to let go physically. We can resonate with the words, even reframe our thinking around situations, but the fact of the matter (literally) is this:

“Our issues are in our tissues”.

Long-held beliefs, old traumas, conditioned ways of thinking and behaving are all held in our complex fascial network. It can often be seen in the posture, but also felt in stiffness, restriction and pain in the body.

It is my goal to help us get into those sticky bits this month, where we tend to hold our old stuff, places like the hips and the shoulders, and clearing out those old cobwebs.

With the use of props like sticks and blocks, we provide structure for the body to naturally re-align itself. You may find that by opening your chest, you stand taller, breathe better, and have more energy. These are the wonderful side-effects of re-discovering proper alignment.

This month we will dig deep, and I have a full schedule for you to emerge yourself in throughout these darker months when we most need it.

I’d recommend this month adding the Somatic Yoga into your practise, even if you can’t make it live. You can do it any evening, even more than once. This is the really deep, transformational work.

Somatic Yoga and two Flow sessions (with music) are included in the Full Monthly Pass, which is just £44 per month.

Love Mornings are £29 per month and Somatic Yoga or Saturdays only £24 and £14 respectively.
